Throughout the course of its business, Indi Connect Group Pty Ltd and its related entities, including Indi Recruitment Pty Ltd and Indi Traffic Pty Ltd (“Indi Connect”, “we”, “our” or “us”), collect, hold, use and disclose personal information.
Indi Connect is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals and handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”).
This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal information we collect and hold, how we collect, use and disclose it, how we protect and retain it, how individuals may access or correct their information, and how privacy enquiries and complaints are managed.
This Privacy Policy is available free of charge on our website and may be reviewed and updated from time to time. Personal information held by Indi Connect will be managed in accordance with the version of this policy in effect at the relevant time.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected by Indi Connect in relation to:

“Personal Information” has the meaning given in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and generally means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information is true or not and whether it is recorded in a material form.

In some circumstances, Indi Connect may collect sensitive information where it is reasonably necessary for our business activities and where permitted by law. Sensitive information may include:
- Health or medical information
- Fitness-for-work information
- Drug and alcohol testing results
- Criminal history information
- Information concerning racial or ethnic origin
- Indigenous status, where voluntarily provided or required for employment or workforce participation programs
- Membership of a professional or trade association
- Membership of a trade union

- Information relating to workplace rehabilitation, injury or workers’ compensation
- Other information required to satisfy legislative, contractual, client or site requirements

The APPs govern how organisations collect, hold, use, disclose and manage personal information. They broadly regulate open and transparent management of personal information, anonymity and pseudonymity, collection of solicited and unsolicited personal information, notification of collection, use and disclosure, direct marketing, cross-border disclosure, adoption and use of government-related identifiers, quality and security of personal information, and access to and correction of personal information. Indi Connect is committed to complying with the APPs.
6. Personal Information We Collect
Depending on the nature of our relationship with you, Indi Connect may collect and hold personal information including full name, residential and postal address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, employment history, resumes and curriculum vitae, licences, tickets, registrations and qualifications, education and training records, work rights documentation, visa information, references and referee details, emergency contact details, payroll and taxation information, bank account details, superannuation details, timesheets and attendance records, performance and conduct information, workplace incident and investigation records, complaints and disciplinary records, workplace rehabilitation and return-to-work information, correspondence with Indi Connect, details of services provided to or by Indi Connect, information regarding clients, suppliers and commercial contacts, and any other information reasonably necessary for the services we provide or the operation of our business.
7. How We Collect Personal Information
Indi Connect may collect personal information in a number of ways, including when you apply for employment or register with us, submit a resume or application, complete onboarding, payroll or employment documentation, apply through our website or job boards, contact us by phone, email, social media or in person, participate in an interview, assessment or reference check, complete an induction, training program or site assessment, engage us to provide services or provide goods or services to us, work for or represent one of our clients or suppliers, or where we receive information from clients, referees, previous employers, professional associations or registration bodies, or from publicly available sources where lawful. Where it is reasonable and practicable to do so, Indi Connect will collect personal information directly from the individual concerned.
8. Unsolicited Personal Information
Where Indi Connect receives personal information that it did not request, we will determine whether the information could have been lawfully collected under the APPs. Where it could not have been lawfully collected and we are not otherwise required to retain it, we will take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify the information.
9. Recruitment and Labour Hire Activities
As part of providing recruitment, labour hire, traffic management and workforce solutions, Indi Connect may collect personal information from candidates, workers, referees, former employers, clients, professional associations, registration bodies and publicly available sources. We may use this information to assess suitability for employment or placement, identify relevant opportunities, verify licences, qualifications and work rights, undertake reference and background checks, assess competency and fitness for work, administer employment and payroll arrangements, manage attendance, performance and workplace issues, facilitate workplace rehabilitation, manage complaints or investigations, satisfy legislative and contractual obligations, place candidates and labourers with clients, and provide career guidance and workforce planning support. During an individual’s employment or placement, we may also collect information relating to timesheets, attendance, performance, conduct, safety incidents and workplace records.
10. Clients and Suppliers
Indi Connect may collect personal information relating to clients, prospective clients, suppliers, subcontractors and other commercial contacts, and use it to establish and manage commercial relationships, administer contracts and purchase orders, respond to requests for labour or services, verify authority to act on behalf of an organisation, process payments, undertake due diligence, manage supplier performance, conduct service improvement surveys, maintain records of meetings and transactions, comply with legal and contractual requirements, and provide, improve and promote our services.
11. How We Use Personal Information
Indi Connect may use personal information to provide recruitment, labour hire, traffic management and workforce services, administer employment and contractor relationships, manage payroll, taxation and superannuation obligations, respond to enquiries, communicate with candidates, workers, clients and suppliers, verify qualifications and work rights, undertake background and reference checks, manage safety, training and workplace conduct, manage complaints and insurance matters, manage client and supplier relationships, conduct audits and quality assurance, improve our services and systems, conduct research and business planning, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, protect the legal rights of Indi Connect and others, and for any other purpose permitted or required by law. Where we propose to use personal information for a purpose not reasonably related to why it was collected, we will obtain consent where required by law.
12. If You Do Not Provide Information
You are not generally required to provide personal information to Indi Connect. However, if you do not provide requested information, we may be unable to assess your suitability for employment or placement, verify your qualifications or work rights, place you with a client, administer your employment or payroll arrangements, satisfy client or legislative requirements, provide recruitment or labour hire services, engage you as a supplier or subcontractor, or otherwise respond to your request or conduct business with you.
13. Use of Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools
Indi Connect may use artificial intelligence, machine learning, automated filtering tools and other technology to assist with recruitment, workforce management and business administration. These technologies may assist in matching candidates with opportunities, analysing employment history and qualifications, candidate shortlisting, summarising interviews or documents, document preparation, identifying workforce trends, and supporting decision-making by authorised Indi Connect personnel. Where appropriate, we take reasonable steps to ensure automated tools are used responsibly and subject to human oversight, and are intended to support, not replace, human assessment in material recruitment, placement or employment decisions. Where we record an interview or meeting for transcription or AI-assisted summarisation, we will obtain consent where required.
14. Disclosure of Personal Information
Indi Connect may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to prospective and current clients, potential and actual host employers, related entities within the Indi Connect Group, referees and previous employers, payroll and accounting providers, superannuation providers, insurers and workers’ compensation authorities, medical and rehabilitation providers, training and induction providers, background checking providers, professional associations, job boards and recruitment platforms, IT and cloud service providers, marketing providers, auditors, professional advisers, government departments and regulators, law enforcement agencies where required, and prospective purchasers or advisers in connection with a business sale, restructure or acquisition, or any other person where authorised or required by law. Personal information may also be disclosed to third parties used by our clients as part of their own recruitment, screening, induction or safety processes. Indi Connect will not sell personal information to third parties.
15. Direct Marketing
From time to time, Indi Connect may use personal information to communicate about employment and placement opportunities, recruitment and workforce services, training and information sessions, industry updates, business news and events, surveys, and other relevant services, by email, phone, SMS, instant messaging, social media or post. Individuals may opt out of direct marketing at any time using the unsubscribe instructions in the communication or by contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing will not prevent Indi Connect from sending operational, employment, payroll or safety-related communications.
16. Website Analytics and Cookies
Indi Connect’s website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality, analyse traffic and better understand how visitors use our website. This may include IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, referring website, pages viewed, links selected, access times, general location and navigation patterns. This information may be aggregated and may not directly identify an individual. Some cookies are necessary for the website’s operation, while others support analytics, functionality, personalisation or advertising. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, and you may disable or manage them through your browser settings, though this may affect the website’s functionality.
17. Information Submitted Through the Website
Personal information submitted through online enquiry forms, job applications, registration forms or other website functions will be collected and used for the purposes identified at the time of collection and otherwise in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Individuals should not provide sensitive information through general website enquiry forms unless it is reasonably necessary for the relevant enquiry or application.
18. Overseas Disclosure
Indi Connect primarily operates in Australia and generally stores and processes personal information in Australia. However, some technology, cloud storage, recruitment, communication or service providers we use may store or process personal information using infrastructure located outside Australia, which may include the United States, Canada, countries within the European Union and other jurisdictions. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, Indi Connect will take reasonable steps in accordance with the APPs to ensure the recipient handles it appropriately.
19. Storage and Security
Indi Connect takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Personal information may be stored electronically within secure information systems, on cloud-based platforms, within recruitment, payroll and client systems, or in physical records where appropriate. Security measures may include access controls and password protection, multifactor authentication where available, secure data storage and transmission, restricted system permissions, confidentiality obligations, staff training, system monitoring, and secure destruction and disposal procedures. Access to personal information is limited to authorised personnel and service providers who require it to perform their duties, and Indi Connect requires employees and contractors with access to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy obligations.
20. Data Breaches
Indi Connect maintains processes for responding to actual or suspected data breaches. Where we become aware of a data breach, we will assess the incident and take appropriate steps to contain, investigate and remediate it. Where required under the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme, Indi Connect will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
21. Accuracy of Personal Information
Indi Connect takes reasonable steps to ensure the personal information it collects, uses and discloses is accurate, complete, relevant and up to date. Individuals are encouraged to notify us if their personal information changes, or if they believe information we hold is inaccurate, incomplete, irrelevant, out of date or misleading.
22. Retention of Personal Information
Indi Connect retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, administer an employment, placement, client or supplier relationship, satisfy legal, taxation, employment, safety, insurance and regulatory requirements, comply with contractual obligations, resolve disputes or manage potential legal claims, and maintain appropriate business and employment records. When personal information is no longer required and we are not legally required to retain it, we will take reasonable steps to securely destroy or permanently de-identify it.
23. Accessing Personal Information
Individuals may request access to personal information held by Indi Connect. Before providing access, we may require reasonable evidence to verify identity. We will respond within a reasonable period and will generally provide access in the manner requested where it is reasonable and practicable to do so. In certain circumstances permitted under the Privacy Act, Indi Connect may refuse or limit access, and where this occurs we will provide written reasons and information about available complaint mechanisms, unless otherwise prohibited by law. We will not ordinarily charge a fee for an access request, though we may charge reasonable administrative costs where permitted by law, and any proposed charge will be communicated in advance.
24. Correcting Personal Information
Individuals may request correction of personal information held by Indi Connect where they believe it is inaccurate, incomplete, irrelevant, out of date or misleading. Where we are satisfied that information requires correction, we will take reasonable steps to correct it. If we refuse to correct the information, we will provide written reasons and information about available complaint mechanisms, unless otherwise prohibited by law. An individual may also request that a statement be associated with the information noting they consider it inaccurate, incomplete, irrelevant, out of date or misleading. Indi Connect will not charge a fee for a correction request.
25. Anonymity and Pseudonymity
Where lawful and practicable, individuals may choose to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym when dealing with Indi Connect. However, this may not be practicable where we are required to verify identity or obtain identifying information for employment, payroll, recruitment, safety, contractual or legal purposes.
26. Privacy Enquiries and Complaints
If you have any questions, concerns or complaints regarding this Privacy Policy or the way your personal information has been handled, please contact Indi Connect’s Privacy Officer.
Privacy complaints should include sufficient information to enable Indi Connect to understand and investigate the matter. We will acknowledge receipt of a privacy complaint within five business days, investigate it in a fair and timely manner, keep the complainant reasonably informed of progress, and endeavour to resolve the complaint within 30 days, where reasonably practicable. Some complaints may take longer to investigate due to their nature or complexity, and where this occurs we will provide an update regarding the anticipated process.
If you are not satisfied with Indi Connect’s response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
27. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Indi Connect may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to privacy laws, our business operations, technology and systems, our recruitment and workforce practices, or the way we collect, hold, use or disclose personal information. The updated Privacy Policy will be published on Indi Connect’s website, with the date of the most recent update displayed at the end of the policy.
